Here is a proposed definition. We invite your comments.
Proposed tentative definition of positive religious pluralism: The extent to which people have:
(1) positive relationships (acquaintance and interaction) with people of other religions, or the same religion but different theology/values,
(2) positive experiences of intra/interfaith dialogue and/or action, in which various viewpoints, including ones own, are expressed, respected and clarified,
(3) a respectful attitude about various religious traditions without dilution of ones own commitment/faithfulness (I want to listen to and learn from others respectfully; I'm open to grow and change; I want to offer and share viewpoints from my tradition, as I understand/practice them, and grow in clarity and depth in my own tradition),
---as an alternative to:
(1) religious supremacy and/or exclusivism ("we have the one and only true religion, theology, or doctrine");
(2) religious indifference/relativism ("it doesn't matter what religion people have; one is as good as another") and/or
(3) religious isolation/ignorance. ("we don't talk to each other except to change the other one's mind")
